SHACK15 is proud to celebrate International Women's Day and recognize the hard-fought advancements and achievements of women around the world. Through our work at SHACK15, we also aim to be a platform for continued progress to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, and accelerate gender equality. Marking this day is a great way to bring powerful women together to share stories, experiences, triumphs and challenges in order to keep moving towards an equal playing field for women in the workplace and in society.

Last week, we held a SHACK15 Conversation on Women and Leadership, presented in partnership with SoFi, a leading fintech and personal finance company. It was an inspiring panel of C-level women who shared their thoughts on the issues facing women in the workplace today— fighting impostor syndrome, supporting women of color, finding mentors and mentoring others, negotiating pay, and many other valuable insights.

Our panelists Ebony Frelix Beckwith, Chief Philanthropy Officer and EVP at Salesforce; Michelle Gill, CFO of SoFi; and Varsha Rao, CEO of Nurx drew on their years of experience in various industries to share some very personal and eye opening lessons. If you missed the conversation, you can watch a recording of the conversation in its entirety here.

“I think women should want to be wealthy. I think women should want to have equity in companies. I think women should be ambitious.”

Ebony Frelix Beckwith on setting boundaries

“You have to say no. I could be out at an event, speaking, every single night of the week. And I have to say no, because I just can’t do everything. So instead of having FOMO, I have JOMO, joy of missing out.”

Thanks so much to our panelists for sharing their wisdom with our community. There is much to be gained from their experiences as we continue to fight for equal opportunities for women.
